A FIFA Under-17 World Cup winner with England, 2017-18 was a season of ups and downs for midfielder Tashan Oakley-Boothe.
Featuring for the first team in all three matches on our 2017 pre-season tour of the USA, he earned his senior competitive debut in a 1-0 Carabao Cup win over Barnsley in September, 2017, before heading off to India for the aforementioned tournament success with the Young Lions at international level.
Some niggling injuries restricted his involvement in the months that followed but whenever he did take to the pitch for our Academy sides, he put in typically committed displays, remaining calm and strong on the ball while playing off his right foot. He made five appearances in the Premier League 2, started twice in the Under-19 UEFA Youth League and played three times for the Under-18s - two of which were in the FA Youth Cup - over the course of that campaign.
Tashan was born in Lambeth and attended Highbury Grove School.
He featured seven times for our Under-18s in 2015-16 while still a schoolboy, making his debut as a substitute in the opening day 5-1 win against Brighton & Hove Albion. His first start came in March, 2016, against Wolves, where he scored in a 7-3 victory.
Featuring in various different central midfield roles - at four, eight and 10 - he played 13 times in the Under-18 Premier League in 2016-17, scoring twice, while making a further five appearances in our run to the FA Youth Cup semi-finals. He also started five of our six games in the UEFA Youth League and stepped up to feature three times for the Under-23s in the Premier League 2.
He has been capped by England at Under-16 and Under-17 levels and impressed in the Young Lions' run to the final of the European Under-17 Championship in May, 2017. He subsequently started all but one game as England lifted the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in October, 2017.
