Versatile full-back Tariq Hinds has now moved up to Under-23 level after two years of progression with our Under-18s.
Capable of playing on the right or left, he was also occasionally deployed in a central role during 29 appearances in all competitions for the Under-18s in 2017-18. He also featured in five games in the Under-19 UEFA Youth League, including three starts, came off the bench once for the Under-23s in a Premier League International Cup match against Villarreal and started the final game of the Premier League 2 season at that level against Manchester City.
Born in Goodmayes and raised in Hainault, Tariq attended the Davenant Foundation School in Loughton before joining our Academy full-time in the summer of 2016. During 2015-16, he featured regularly for our Under-16s and chipped in with a healthy goals tally from defence.
He appeared 21 times for our Under-18s in the league during 2016-17, experimenting with a central midfield role towards the end of the campaign. He scored two goals from left-back - both fine finishes, one from long range, in a 4-0 home win over Swansea City in February, 2017.
Starting our first game in the UEFA Youth League at home to AS Monaco in September, 2016, he also stepped up to make three appearances for our Under-23s in the Premier League 2 and was part of the Under-18s squad that tasted IMG Cup glory in Florida in December, 2016.
