Towering centre-back Jonathan Dinzeyi continued his development in a host of challenging environments throughout 2017-18.
After joining our first team squad for a pre-season tour of the United States in the summer of 2017, Jon picked up league minutes at both Under-18 and Under-23 levels over the course of the campaign.
After featuring against senior sides from Luton Town and AFC Wimbledon during our Under-23s' Checkatrade Trophy campaign, he made six starts for Wayne Burnett's team in the Premier League 2 during the latter months of that season.
With 14 appearances for the Under-18s also under his belt, he stepped off the bench to feature away at APOEL Under-19s in the UEFA Youth League too.
Born in Islington and raised in Enfield, he attended Enfield Grammar School and played for Chettle Court Rangers youth team in Haringey before joining us. Despite his towering frame, Jon actually played on the wing for a spell with our Under-16s before settling on a central defensive berth.
He featured nine times for our Under-18s in 2015-16, including eight starts, while still a schoolboy. His debut came against Fulham in September, 2015, and he netted his first goal at that level in a 2-1 win over West Ham United in November, 2015.
Often teaming up with the older Japhet Tanganga at centre-half during 2016-17, he racked up 19 appearances in the Under-18 Premier League, five starts and one substitute appearance in the FA Youth Cup and one start away to CSKA Moscow in the UEFA Youth League. He also won the IMG Cup in Florida with our Under-18s in December, 2016.
